Lamar Advertising Hosts Mobile Crane Practical Examiner Workshop

November 2011 - The nation's largest outdoor advertising firm—Lamar Advertising Company—held an NCCCO Mobile Crane Practical Examiner Accreditation Workshop at its corporate headquarters in Baton Rouge, LA, September 13–15, 2011. Attending were 16 Lamar employees from all over the country. The workshop was underwritten by Lamar’s insurance carrier Chartis as a means of mitigating risk for Lamar’s employees and clients.

Many of Lamar’s outdoor billboards and signs are sufficiently large to require large mobile cranes (up to 300 tons capacity) to assemble them. Mindful of the new OSHA rules for crane operator certification, Lamar took the proactive step of calling in NCCCO to train Lamar’s CCO-certified employees as practical examiners who are now authorized to administer CCO practical examinations as needed.
